IGP reviews Republic Day arrangements at PCR Kashmir | KNO

Srinagar, Jan 18 (KNO): In view of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone V. K Birdi chaired a security review meeting at the Conference Hall of PCR Kashmir. The meeting was attended by IGP CRPF Srinagar, DIG Armed/IR Kashmir, DIsG of Kashmir Zones, DIG CRPF North/South/KOS Srinagar, DIG BSF Srinagar, DD IB Srinagar, SSP PCR Kashmir, all SSsP of Kashmir Zone, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP APCR, SSP CID CIK, SSP Security Kashmir, Col IS 15 Corps, DC SB, SP PC Srinagar, SP Telecommunication and other officers, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). At the outset of the meeting, IGP Kashmir was briefed by the participating officers about the security measures/preparations put in place and presented their detailed plans, highlighting measures to enhance security, protect public spaces, and facilitate the orderly conduct of the event. During the meeting, IGP Kashmir allotted different tasks with strict instructions of accomplishing the assignments with precision and planning. Necessary directions were also issued to the officers for important arrangements for smooth conduct of the event. Key aspects discussed during the meeting included crowd management strategies, traffic control plans, intelligence updates and the strategic deployment of police personnel. IGP Kashmir directed the officers to maintain a high level of alertness and increase area domination in their respective areas. IGP Kashmir also reviewed the security measures put in place for the security of Highways, Railway Tracks and Railway Stations across the valley. The traffic wing was directed by V. K Birdi to devise a proper traffic plan and to ensure uninterrupted movement of public transport/private vehicles along with smooth movement of protected persons. IGP Kashmir further directed the officers that elements involved in disturbing the prevailing peaceful atmosphere should be dealt strictly under law. He said that stringent action shall be taken against such elements who misuse social media platforms for inciting violence.
